Prevacid is prescribed for the treatment of erosive esophagitis, duodenal and gastric ulcers, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. In case of necessity the drug may be used in combination with antibiotics.

The number of doses you take each day, the time between doses and the period of time you take the medicine depend on a concrete patient and the treated disease. As a rule the dose for adults comprises from 15 to 30 mg. Prevacid tablets can be taken from 1 to 3 times per day. For children the dose should be determined by a health care provider.

The drug is recommended to be taken before meal. Prevacid capsules should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. If you accidentally broke the capsule, pour the contents onto one tablespoon of applesauce and after that swallow them immediately. If you missed a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once!

Don’t stop the course of treatment with Prevacid even if you think you are better. The disease should be treated till the end. Otherwise you are at risk to experience any unpleasant reactions in a short period of time.
